Ford delivered a thunderous gathering at the 2025 Simola Hillclimb, using the opportunity to showcase the Mustang line-up in a creative and high-impact way. Since its inception, the Simola Hillclimb has grown into a globally recognised celebration of speed, engineering excellence, and motorsport culture. Set against the stunning backdrop of Knysna, this annual event has become a must-attend for motorsport fans, competitors, and automotive brands alike.
Through a collaboration with Ford and MasterDrive - the official safety car and VIP hospitality partner for the event - the latest Mustang GT was front and centre throughout the weekend, generating great visibility.
Adding to the excitement, Lance Woolridge, our very own South African Rally-Raid Championship driver, stepped out of his NWM Ranger and into the Mustang Dark Horse. He delivered a series of crowd-pleasing exhibition runs, even taking members of the media along for the ride. With GoPros and cameras rolling, the Mustang’s power and presence were shared widely across social platforms.
The Mustang’s presence was further amplified by Shelby South Africa who brought their supercharged Shelby Super Snakes and Capris to join in the action with combined power outputs exceeding 5600hp!
Also competing in Classic Car Friday was a recreation of a 1965 Ford GT40. This special race car pays tribute to the historic win by Ford and Shelby at Le Mans in 1966 and is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.9-litre V8 engine.
Overall, Ford's strategic presence at the 2025 Simola Hillclimb, showcasing the Mustang line-up and supported by the cars from Shelby, proved effective. It provided an opportunity to highlight the Mustang's history and its current appeal, helping the model maintain visibility and generate interest among motorsport enthusiasts and the wider public who attended or followed the event.
